Story by George Yawson VINEH
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has extended the deadline for the submission of event proposals for the 2026 edition of December in GH to Monday, September 7, 2026.
The extension is intended to give event organisers, promoters, cultural innovators and experience creators additional time to submit their concepts for consideration and possible inclusion in Ghana’s flagship festive season programme.
The December in GH 2026 calendar will run from December 1, 2026, to January 3, 2027, bringing together a wide range of activities celebrating Ghana’s culture, creativity, entertainment, heritage and tourism experiences.
The initiative is expected to attract both domestic and international visitors, offering them an opportunity to experience the diversity and vibrancy of Ghana during the festive season.
According to the Ghana Tourism Authority, December in GH has continued to evolve beyond a conventional calendar of events into a nationwide cultural journey, showcasing the country’s rhythms, stories, flavours, traditions and creative expressions.
The initiative forms part of the broader Black Star Experience, which seeks to position Ghana as a leading destination for authentic cultural and tourism experiences.
Selected events to receive national exposure
Events selected for inclusion will form part of the official December in GH 2026 programme and will be integrated into the national campaign.
The Ghana Tourism Authority will also amplify selected events through its local and international promotional platforms, potentially providing organisers with greater visibility among audiences in Ghana and abroad.
The Authority is therefore encouraging eligible event organisers and promoters to take advantage of the extended deadline and submit their proposals for consideration.
Interested organisers are required to submit their proposals by Monday, September 7, 2026, through the designated online submission platform.
For further information, organisers may contact the International Affairs Secretariat of the Ghana Tourism Authority on +233 0240402408 or via Internationalaffairs@gta.gov.gh.
The extension comes as Ghana prepares for another major festive season, with December in GH expected to serve as a platform for showcasing the country’s tourism, arts, culture, entertainment and creative industries to the world.
I can also make this more punchy and newsroom-style, with a stronger headline, SEO-friendly subhead, and a shorter lead suitable for an online news platform.
