National Security Coordinator Urges NIB, Police For Thorough Investigation To Resolve Nkwanta Conflict

In a decisive move to address the ongoing conflict in the Nkwanta South of the Oti Region, DCOP Abdul Razak Osman, the National Security Coordinator has for an urgent comprehensive investigation into the unrest that has plagued the area for the past years.

DCOP Osman led with a high level government delegation to Nkwanta to restore peace.

The conflict, which has led to heightened tensions among the residents, has raised concerns about the safety and the security of residents.

DCOP Osman has tasked the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the root cause of the conflict.

He emphasized the importance understanding the underlying issues that have contributed to the discord, urging both agencies to work collaboratively to gather intelligence and evidence.

In addition to the investigative efforts, the National Security Coordinator Osman Razak, has reached to the chiefs and community leaders, encouraging them to play a proactive role in fostering dialogue and reconciliation among the affected parties.

He believes that the traditional leadership can be instrumental in diffusing tensions and promote peace.

DCOP also urged to take caution statement for all the traditional chiefs to commit them to peace.

Also the Lieutenant General Bismark Kwasi Onwona, Chief of Army Staff commended the joint military and police operatives for ensuring and maintaining peace within the municipality.

He assured the troops of government support, urging them to go all to ensure perpetrators are brought to book.
