The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has paid a working visit to the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between government and Ghana’s scientific research institutions.
Addressing the researchers during the visit on Wednesday September 23, 2026 Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, urged researchers to focus on turning their scientific discoveries into commercially viable products and services.
She says research must go beyond academic publications and contribute directly to Ghana’s economic development.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings also encouraged researchers to explore practical ways of commercializing their innovations to create jobs, generate revenue and address challenges confronting communities.
She stressed the need for stronger collaboration between research institutions, industry and the private sector to ensure that innovative ideas move from the laboratory to the marketplace.
According to the Minister, Ghana has significant research capacity, but greater attention must be given to developing research outcomes into products that can meet local and international market demands.
She further called on researchers to consider the economic potential of their work while pursuing scientific breakthroughs.
The visit by the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, to the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR focused on exploring how science, technology and innovation can contribute more directly to Ghana’s development.
The Minister said the government will continue to explore measures to create an enabling environment for science, technology and innovation to contribute meaningfully to national development.
