Over 200 officers inspected the market and identified fire safety violations, including unsafe electrical connections, blocked exits, improper storage of flammable materials, and the absence of fire extinguishers. Traders were directed to rectify the identified violations within the shortest possible time or face sanctions. In addition, traders were engaged through direct public education on fire prevention, early detection, and emergency reporting. Cargo Truck Fire Contained At Budumpuram; Firecrackers Suspected To Have Sparked The Fire Local News Politics by panafricantv - December 15, 2025December 15, 20250 The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a cargo truck fire (GS 2379-23) at Budumburam on Saturday evening, December 13, 2025, with no casualties recorded. The distress call was received at 20:16 hours. Despite an out-of-service fire engine, the Budumburam crew, led by STNO II Takyi, responded swiftly using portable fire extinguishers. With reinforcement from the Kasoa Fire Station, the fire was fully extinguished at 22:29 hours. The truck was carrying hazardous materials, including firecrackers (contrary to E.I. 21 of 1999). Preliminary findings suggest possible spontaneous ignition due to improper storage of hazardous materials.
