Kpando Lawmaker, Dela Adjoa Sowah, has cautioned the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to rest on their oars despite recent surveys, including one from Global Info Analytics, predicting a resounding victory for the party in the upcoming December 7 polls.
Commenting on the outcome of the polls on Pan African Television’s Alhaji and Alhaji talk show on Saturday, 13th April 2024, the legislator reiterated that the predicted victory should not leave room for complacency.
“The analysis is good; it means that the NDC is doing something new, it means that the NDC has turned some leaves and people are appreciating the change, and we are seeing that this new NDC is one that we can trust. My only caution is we shouldn’t be complacent. There is a lot more work to be done,” she stressed.
Miss Dela Sowah, however, added that she is of the firm belief the NDC will defeat the incumbent by an even greater margin. This, according to her, is because the party is presenting a better NDC which has an unfettered determination to better the lives of Ghanaians.
Further speaking on some policy initiatives of the party, she touched on the much popular 24 Hour Economy, which in her estimation, will transform every aspect and fabric of the Ghanaian economy. This, according to her, defeats the transformational agenda conversation touted by John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, founder and leader of the Movement for Change.
In her concluding remarks, she revealed that Ghanaians are tired of the New Patriotic Party having gone through the past seven years amidst economic turmoil and untold hardship. She also blamed the country’s woes on the Vice President, who doubles as the flagbearer of the ruling government, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, while again tasking the NDC to work hard for victory in the December 7 polls.
History
Over the past few days, conversations on the December 7 polls have peaked as a result of a poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, a nonpartisan organization that provides data-driven research and insights on politics, policy, and business strategy for local and international organisations.
According to the poll, over 54 percent of Ghanaians have indicated they will vote for Mahama, who is seeking a win that will bring him back to power for a second time, having ended his first tenure in January 2017.
The Vice President and leader of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, came in second with nearly 35% of the votes, while some 7.5% of Ghanaians opted for Alan Kyerematen.
